About
The Big Web FAQ answers questions about the web and it’s technologies. It tries to keep the answers simple and as clear as possible. It uses language that is either commonly known or explained elsewhere on this site.
It is aimed at beginners and the intermediate although experts may well find it useful too.
It is a hobby site run by Nikolai Bird with help from the community.
Nikolai is an Internet consultant with over 15 years experience as a web designer/developer/fanatic. Nikolai is currently the head of web development for the Silicon Valley software company, Software Shelf Incorporated Inc. Although Nikolai himself is based in the UK.
The language used on this site is a mixture of mostly British English and some American English where required or convenient. A lot of the Web’s language uses American based words and spelling. If you find a spelling or grammatical mistake, please get in touch (it happens!), but only if it is obviously not either British or American English.
You are very welcome to add to the content by using the comments box on each page. Remember that this site is not about rocket science, so keep the language clear. It does not have to be simple English, but try to avoid terminology and nomenclature that would confuse the average web user. The idea is to assume that readers are intelligent, but may not have all the wording yet.
